Entrepreneurs in techonology are invited to submit business ideas on web and mobile innovations in a competition that will award the best business idea a Ksh. 1 million investment prize (12,397 US Dollars).
The competition dubbed IPO48 has been organised by Human IPO, a social media platform that links entrepreneur business start ups and financiers across the world.
Interested entrepreneurs can apply through the IPO48 website http://ipo48.com/ between September 29 and October 7. On October 29th to 31st top entrepreneurs, programmers’, project managers and designers will assemble at the Strathmore University to deliberate for 48 hours on the best business idea to fund.
Applicants will be expected to present their business idea before the panel, commenting on its importance to the society and the viability of their project to reach global markets. Applicants have to convince the panel why they should be awarded the one million shillings investment prize.
The idea is to turn a business idea into a tangible, bankable business within 48 hours,” says David Owino the co-founder of the Human IPO.
Applicants who do not win the top prize will also benefit from interacting with financiers and venture capitalists who might be interested in partnering or funding their business ideas.
With the arrival of faster and more affordable internet connectivity, business applications and software development has become a lucrative business.
Owino says the business ideas should illustrate the ability to maximize on business opportunities created by over 20 million mobile subscribers and 6 million internet users in Kenya.
