Entrepreneurs with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Lagos are invited to apply for an opportunity to get their businesses active online.
Google has partnered with Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) and three Nigerian companies to enable SMEs to grow their business presence through the Get African Businesses Online (GABO) program.
The GABO initiative seeks to widen the market reach and accessibility of Nigerian SMEs by introducing an online business programme.
The GABO programme will select 200 SMEs to be provided with a basic business website for their company, a business email account, as well as training to ensure the smooth operation of the online projects.
Businesses selected to participate in the GABO program will also be invited to attend a one day online workshop. The selected businesses will also be listed on Google Maps while the entrepreneurs will continue receiving online technical support for two months after set up.
Interested entrepreneurs have until 31 October to submit their applications, click here to apply on the GABO website.
To be eligible for entry, applicants are required to have a Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate, be based in Lagos and be prepared to pay 1, 500 Nairas (approximately 10 USD) for the annual registration of their online company domain name.
Entrepreneurs that are interested and understand the impact of creating an online presence for their business will be considered in the selection process. The workshop will take place in Lagos in November, with further details to follow.
While the initiative is currently centralized in Lagos, the GABO programme will be rolled out to other parts of Nigeria at a later stage.
