Agricultural Cooperative Business Plan Competition

Attention agricultural cooperatives and farmers associations! Submit your business plan in the ‘Farmers in Business’ competition and stand a chance to receive business prizes up to €15,000 prize (24,000 US Dollars).
The business plan competition is open to agricultural cooperatives and farmers associations seeking funding to start or to expand their businesses.
The competition is organised by Agriterra, an agriculture investor agency and BiD Network, an entrepreneur networking forum. The competition is open to entries from Burundi, Congo DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. To be eligible for participation agricultural cooperative and farmers’ associations should have at least 250 registered members.
The goal of the competition is to motivate farmers to start agriculture related companies and grow the existing co-operatives into successful enterprises that will facilitate creation of employment and increased incomes for farmers. It also aims to support farmers’ efforts to become agriculture entrepreneurs by improving their production chain and market presence.
The selected finalists will be flown to the Netherlands for a series of training and investor networking sessions and meetings. Participants who do not qualify for the final selection will have their business plans placed on the BiD Network Investor Matchmaking Services, a networking platform for investors and entrepreneurs.
Interested applicants should submit their business plans before 15th of March 2011. Feedback and assistance will be offered to participants on ways to improve their plans so as to stand a better chance of winning.
