Grow your business workshops organised by Africa Report and PUM Netherlands hit off this week in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.
Entrepreneurs in Kenya and a team of specialists from the PUM Netherlands Senior Experts held a half day discussion on business success in Nairobi this week.
The workshop, held at the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, was the first of three business events running in Kenya this month, organized by Africa Report and PUM .
During the workshop, successful entrepreneurs shared their success stories and gave account of how their interaction with the PUM Netherlands senior experts helped further the growth of their businesses.
Isaac Chege of Uchumi Grain Millers said working with a PUM Expert helped him implement efficient structures at his milling firm and access financing resources. Susan Deiters of Cafe Des Arts said she was able to improve services at her restaurant, expand her food menu and introduce creativity in food preparation.
The entrepreneurs also got an opportunity to watch Africa Report documentaries which featured further stories of successful entrepreneurs.
Representatives from the Netherlands Embassy presented possible financing options for entrepreneurs offered by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation. One of the projects in the Private Sector Investment (PSI) Programme assists innovative businesses in developing countries receive grants for investment.
After the workshop, the floor was open for entrepreneurs to network with representatives from different private sector organizations, financial institutions and business experts.
Two more similar workshops are to be held in Mombasa on November 16 and Kisumu on November 18 2010 respectively. The workshops have been organized in conjunction with three private sector lobby groups namely Federation of Kenyan Employers (FKE), Kenyan Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
