Thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders from more than 100 countries across the world are taking part in a series of events to mark this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The week, which launched on the 15 November and will run until 21 November, kicks off global initiatives set to stimulate entrepreneurship and encourage young and creative self starters to turn their business ideas into reality. Local, community and global activities such as workshops, competitions and exhibitions held in all parts of world will connect people through an international movement for entrepreneurship.

The purpose of the week is to inspire business innovation; bringing young entrepreneurs together to generate fresh ideas and discuss new ways of doing things. The focus on entrepreneurship also highlights the need for support and acts as a platform to consider strategies to tackle business challenges.

Now in its third year, a record of 32,000 events for Global Entrepreneuship Week were held in 2009 across 88 countries, drawing a global attendance of nearly 7.5 million people. This year more than 10 million people are expected to take part internationally.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is also a time for networking and in-depth discussions on new and best ways of doing business . It also offers exposure for business start ups. In Uganda for instance, entrepreneurs of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) will showcase their products and services in an exhibition to be held during the forum.

The week is expected to inspire more people to venture into business and help entrepreneurs grow and develop sustainable businesses.
