Nigerian Youth Entrepeneurship Programme

20 Young entrepreneurs have received business plan training in the US as part of small and medium enterprise development in the country.
A team of 20 entrepreneurs from Nigeria have received an all expenses paid trip to the US for a one month training programme. The team of young entrepreneurs left on Wednesday to Barry University in Florida, US for the four week training on entrepreneurship development.
The entrepreneurs will visit small and big corporate organizations, entrepreneur support and lobby groups and financial institutions such as banks and venture capital funds during their stay in the US. They will also be expected to draft viable business plans which will be implemented upon return.
The entrepreneurs are beneficiaries of the Nigerian Youth Entrepreneurship Programme organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in partnership with the US Government and Barry University.
The SMEDAN is an organisation that promotes the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. It supports the SME sector through capacity building initiatives and also offers mentorship, advice and support in accessing financing.
The 20 entrepreneurs were selected among 1,000 applicants who participated in a business plan Competition held earlier in the year. The aim of the Nigerian Youth Entrepreneurship Program is to stimulate job creation and economic activity in the West Africa state.
Upon return to Nigeria the entrepreneurs will receive mentorship and follow up visits to oversee the growth of their business enterprises.
To fund their business plans, the entrepreneurs will also receive loans from Nigeria’s National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND), an organisation that gives financing to SMEs.

  1. am happy to see most countries spend their time to help their entrepreneurs to get alot of training for better perfomance of their bussines but things are different in tanzania especially for we youth living in remote areas no one seems to care.

  2. The scope of training the entrepreneurs should be widened in order to allow much people participate. i mean organizing such training programmes in localities in African where people in the remote areas would be part of.
