Outstanding entrepreneurs in Ghana will be awarded next month for their contribution to supporting economic growth and job creation in the country.
The Ghana Entrepreneur Awards (GEA) organised by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) and the country’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning will take place on 15th April 2011 in Accra. The event will be part of commemorations held to mark the World Entrepreneurship Day which is marked globally to celebrate entrepreneurship
The purpose of the awards themed ‘Recognising the Exceptional Contribution of Ghanaian Entrepreneurs is to celebrate the achievement of entrepreneurs running Small and Medium Enterprises ( SMEs) in creating jobs, increasing trade in the country and promoting innovation. The award which is being held for the first time seeks to encourage more people to get into entrepreneurship, as well as to support existing entrepreneurs.
Eighteen awards will be handed out during the awards ceremony covering different sectors such as exports, education, financial services, food and beverages , health, Information Technology & Telecommunication (ICT), manufacturing, media, real estate and SME Innovation.
The categories for prestigious awards will be given as follows:

Winners will be selected based on innovation, exemplary leadership and impressive performance record based on the growth of the businesses they run. The judging panel will be looking for entrepreneurs who can not only steer their companies towards financial success but also mentor other young entrepreneurs.
The organisers of the awards, the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana is an organization that promotes entrepreneurship by facilitating mentorship and education for existing and upcoming entrepreneurs. The organization seeks to encourage and support more youths to venture into business.
