Have you ever dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur? Imagine getting a fully paid-for two yearlong training on entrepreneurship, mentorship from top business leaders and support to start your own company.
The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology is accepting applications for its Entrepreneurs In Training (EITs) program, a program that admits persons who have interest in technology and would like to venture into business. The (EITs) program is expected to kick off in August 2011.
Established by the Meltwater Foundation, a non-profit organisation the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology seeks to train future software entrepreneurs.
Selected participants for the EITs program will be admitted at the school campus in East Legon, Accra, where they will receive training in software development and entrepreneurship. They will also gain mentorship and coaching from world-class executives and support in starting a software company.
Participants will be equipped with relevant skills needed to turn an idea into a business. They will cover areas such as communication, finance, human resources, marketing, and sales. Top business executives and successful entrepreneurs will act as guest lecturers during the training, offering real life experiences and solutions to business challenges.
To be eligible for selection one has to be a university graduate but not necessarily from a technology background .However, they should be passionate about technology. Other than being enterprising, you should also posses good communication skills, be a team player and self motivated.
At the end of the two year training, participants can apply to join the Meltwater Incubator, an arm of the school which provides seed funding and support to graduates who decide to start businesses.

Hi to whom it may concern, I am Shadrack P.Mwenda, 25 years old living in Dar es salaam Tanzania. I really wanna join with that two year program, but in your entry requirements the applicant must graduate University. By the way, don’t you see that you’re separating to provide that profession to the people who have an ordinary level education? I am inquiring because I have become very interested in that program.

Why should the two year scholarship for software entrepreneurs be limited to university graduates only? There is somebody who has undergone trainning in computer related courses and can work from hardware to software but not a graduate.He/she works most of his life with computer related subjects and has absolute passion for the job as a lifetime career. He/she may only need fine tunning and support to get on track. I strongly suggest that, such people should also be given the opportunity for the scholarship to enable them exploit their potentials. We have a lot of such wonderful skills in our various communities and there is no doubt that, they could compete with university graduates when offered the opportunity.

I’m from TANZANIA, my comment does not vary much from preceding persons “your scholarship is so valuable, but the problem is that it is so limited” since it fit only the graduates.

Hi, the scholaship is a very good idea but the problem is its only meant for graduates meaning people like me, who are diploma holders, dont have a chance. I really wish it would include diploma holders.

Once I saw this information about the two year course, I got interested to join it. But it was contrary, as the time that I was supposed to apply was the time that I completed my Diploma in Education. Its my hope that this is going to happen again in days to come, with reduced entry qualifications so that it enables green pastures to the majority.Your doing good Africa Report team.

I have been trying to register my data, but it seems that my country, Nigeria, is not included in the country listed. Please what can I do?

Hi Ola
Nigeria is listed in the countries, I am not sure why you are having problems. There is an Africa list and a Europe list, make sure you scroll down the first list and find Nigeria under the African countries.

I saw your entrepreneurship scholarship after the deadline date. I am a computer science graduate in Kenya. Please kindly contact and/or guide me whenever another opportunity arises. I am very passionate about entrepreneurship and am in the process of establishing my business after having a lot of difficulty in my initial business. Thanks in advance. Best regards.
