A time has come for stakeholders, the general public included, to explore the genre of film production and give it a more natural outlook. With more youth venturing into the film industry in Tanzania, young entrepreneurs in the industry are emerging.
Twenty seven year old artist and self-styled entrepreneur, Jonathan Mnyela, has created a business model ‘revitalizing your business’ dedicated to give a new look to the film industry in Tanzania. He is currently working on a film that will portray the relationship between social media, as well as the growth and safety of children and youth.

He emphasizes:
“Although my major focus in film production is pre-production and logistics planning, I am committed to revitalize the film industry in Tanzania. My new film would be the cornerstone of a major campaign towards this end.”
With a degree in business administration and information technology, Mnyela has developed an enviable passion for films and film making. As such he has taken up numerous short courses on film production and is eyeing for a course in film directorate.
He says:
It is however my successful participation in the World Universities Debate Championship held in South Africa late last year where I was exposed to media production and professional video coverage. I was assigned to the premium media and my eyes were opened and the experience was overwhelming. I noticed that all films are almost related, mostly carrying an element of intimacy and romance. I am determined to change this scenario and set the standard for film making in Tanzania.”
The artist would like to address ‘love and romance’ in his next film. He says it is time for actors to produce films that address the adversities of life, other than focusing wholly on a single subject.

This has been my dream now that it is high time for Filmmakers in Tanzania and Africa at large to reorient the while towards creation of films that are carrying African heritage in its entirety. Moreover, it is important for the younger generation to think over, when ever they site down and write a script for a film what do they really want to convey and communicate to their audiences. We have so many African stories that we can venture and cherish.
