Are you a young Rwandese entrepreneur? Would you like to win prizes and get access to mentors and potential financiers? You have until the 1st of August to apply for the Terimbere Challenge, a business plan competition that seeks to promote the growth of Small and Medium Entreprise (SME) in Rwanda.
The competition is open to entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 45 who would like their businesses to be profitable in the next three years. To be eligible you should also have a financing requirement of between USD 5.000 and USD 1.000.000. Winners of the competition will walk away with multiple prizes and gain access to mentors, investors and other successful entrepreneurs. With access to 100 investors scouting for budding entrepreneurs you might just turn your dream into a big business venture.
The competition has a lot of goodies on offer. For instance, entrepreneurs who apply to the contest will receive support in drafting their business plans and receive training on among other topics business planning. They will also stand the chance to take part in the regional SME marketplace, an SME conference to be held in 2012 where they will get the opportunity to showcase their products and services, network and interact with business leaders and other successful SME owners. Be warn, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
The competition has been organized by the Rwanda chapter of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), a global Non Governmental Organization, the National University of Rwanda and BiD Network, a Dutch organization that helps entrepreneurs access financing. The JCI aims at providing members with ‘contact, leadership and personal business growth through numerous forums and programs to develop themselves as young leaders, entrepreneurs and business executives. (It) creates better Entrepreneurs in the Rwandan economy for the better societies through various trainings, workshops and study tours. (It) also provides young adults with the confidence to reach inside them and overcome initiatives of Entrepreneurship.’ Quite an extensive offer that helps reshaping the business landscape in Rwanda.
JCI Rwanda has 200,000 youths in its network and BiD Network over 36, 000 members in 12 countries whom it links with potential investors and mentors through business plan competitions and its matchmaking service.
