Pin The Date! Training for Technology Entrepreneurs: Deadline August 28

A mobile technology lab in East Africa is scouting for 25 promising mobile technology developers and entrepreneurs to take part in its four month training program. If you are a developer or entrepreneur with interest in mobile application technologies you have until this Sunday the 28th of August 2011 to apply for one of the positions. Opportunities don’t wait!
From next month the mobile lab dubbed M:Lab East Africa will offer its lucky participants, training on various mobile application technologies, commercialization of mobile innovations and entrepreneurship. A unique package aimed at boosting technology innovations on the continent. The initiative seeks to promote entrepreneurship and commercialization of mobile innovations by building the capacity of newly graduated young technology developers and entrepreneurs in the region. The participants will also have their business ideas incubated before they graduate in December.
Do you think you have what it takes to apply? To be eligible for participation you should hold a degree in an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related program and have an interest in improving your skills in mobile based technologies.
By taking part in the training you will also get the opportunity to network with mobile technology experts, academicians and other successful entrepreneurs. This is a great way to build powerful and useful relationships for the future.
The training is now in its the second phase. The 20 participants begun their studies in January 2011 and will be graduating next month. In addition to training, the M: Lab East Africa also helps entrepreneurs in Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Somalia and Southern Sudan access financing and markets and provides physical space for high growth potential start ups.  It also offers support in intellectual property management, monetizing and privileged access to market research data.
The M:Lab East Africa wants to support the development and growth of mobile innovation in the region that will transform East Africa into a global hub for mobile innovation. The huge penetration of mobile phones, high number of innovative ICT graduates and globally famed innovations such as mobile money has been a huge attraction for investors.
The M:Lab East Africa is the first mobile  lab in Africa created by the World Banks’ global development financing  partner, InfoDev  through its ‘Creating Sustainable Businesses in the Knowledge Economy’ initiative  which seeks to encourage innovation and competitiveness among Small and Medium Enterprises in the  ICT sector. A second mobile lab dubbed mLab Southern Africa (SA) will be launched on September 15th in Pretoria, South Africa. Be ready, it’s almost there!
