Competition! The Global Development Network’s Urbanisation And Development program

Having a curious mind could win you enough funds to cover your academic progress.
If you have ever asked yourself questions about urbanisation and the development of society but have never had sufficient financial resources to further your research, here’s your opportunity.
The Global Development Network is offering research and academic grants of up to $30 000 to students who present the best proposals. The GDN has also allocated a further $10 000 for the best research that is presented at the end of the academic studies.
The GDN has ensured that research conducted is of the highest standard by using the Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development to source the best research proposals. Finalists in the category will find themselves winning more than just financial rewards; they will be given the opportunity to present their work to an international audience at the 13th Global Development Conference in mid-2012 too.
The focus for research proposals this year is Urbanisation And Development, and the following themes should be covered in the research proposals: the Interactive Economy and Urban Development; Urban Externalities (Contagious Disease, Congestion and Crime) and Urban Poverty; and The Enabling Environment – Housing, Transportation and Infrastructure.
The deadline for submission is 31 January 2010. For more information and to apply, visit www.gdnet.org/~2011_awards
