In short, the SME Toolkit is an online program hosted and run by the International Finance Corporation whose goal it is to promote ongoing private sector investment in developing countries in order to solve the unemployment problem as well as improve people’s quality of life through their businesses. They also provide technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses as they encourage entrepreneurship and business skills. One of the tools that they use is the SME Toolkit – it gives users access to software, business form templates, training and many other useful tools and skills to help entrepreneurs and small to medium-size businesses.
The website offers users access to business tools including accounting & finance, business planning, human resources, exporting, legal & insurance, operations and many more. Each of these categories contains various assets such as how-to guides, templates, and various other resource bases that will help business people to continue their progress and develop not only their business as a brand and an enterprise, but also to enhance their business skills through education.
The nice thing about this site is that there are many templates available to users. One of the most daunting tasks that any business owner faces is having to draw up business plans or documents that will be used for applying for financial aid or when expanding and seeking partners or investors. These templates can now be used by the users as a rough guideline for what is expected or required, and the business owners can, as time goes by and they become more adept at using these documents, constantly update and evolve their business plans. This will help them to stay ahead of the game by improving their knowledge base as well as keeping their documents as up to date as possible.
The only downside is that there is so much information contained on the site that visitors might become a little intimidated and scared off, unsure of where to begin. In saying that, if you want to learn about businesses and just about everything to do with them, there aren’t many better places to start off your online education.
SME Toolkit is a great website for business people looking to increase their knowledge base as well as learn more about businesses documents and how to fill them out. The best bit is that it’s all online, so you can access it no matter where you are in the world.
