As a result, the mission of USIU is:

High Order Thinking: The ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate information and to formulate conclusions. Students develop and demonstrate the ability to think critically, analytically, and creatively.

Literacy: Competence in oral, written, quantitative, and technological skills. Students develop and demonstrate competency in oral and written communication as well as demonstrate scientific, quantitative and technological literacy.

Global understanding and Multicultural Perspective: Awareness, knowledge and appreciation of both the diversity and commodity of cultures. Students acquire these perspectives through formal study of languages, history, literature and the arts and through working, studying and living cooperatively in a radically, ethnically, and culturally diverse environment. Further, students acquire an understanding of economic, historical, political, geographic and environmental relationships on a global basis.

Preparedness for career: Mastery of a field of knowledge and its multi-cultural and multinational application. Such mastery is accomplished through both formal study and various experienced forms of learning such as internships and field experiences.

Academic Courses and Programs

Certificate Course in Enterprise Management
The certificate in enterprise management is a four-month course designed to address pertinent issues and challenges encountered in the effective management of small and medium sized businesses. The courses provide critical insights on the requirements for business growth and business competitiveness. The course takes the participants through a critical analysis of the business environment, business operations and personal capability of the entrepreneur.

Goal
To equip entrepreneurs with business and managerial skills to run successful businesses.

Target Group

• The course is designed for entrepreneurs working in small and medium sized businesses.

• Entrepreneurs should have at least one year experience running or working in an existing registered business

• The business should qualify as a Growth/Opportunity seeking business enterprise.

Course Features

• The course is taught over a period of 164 hours spread over 4 months

• Classes are taken for three days a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) every alternate week

• The course is divided into 4 modules with each module completed within two weeks. (All modules must be taken for award of certificate)

• The course is non- residential, but lunch and teas are provided
