The United Kingdom is seen as one of the world superpowers and one of the most important in the global business place. London is arguably one of the most important, if not the most important, business cities in the world, so, as you’d imagine, it’s spawned numerous top business schools throughout the land. Just like studying anywhere else in the world, there are requirements that students need to meet in order to study there.
Firstly, you will need, obviously, to have some sort of tertiary studying in the business environment or at a business school in your country. Luckily, South Africa has many business schools that are ranked among the world’s best and any qualification from the likes of the Wits Business School or UCT Business School will be welcomed. Next up, it’s important to research the business schools in the UK and find out which would be the best for you. This can be done easily through email and simple online browsing. The UK is home to such prestigious business schools as the London Business School, the Manchester Business School and the University of Oxford.
Next, you will need to complete the application forms and procedures and go through the regular routes. Once you receive your letter of acceptance to study, you will need to apply for a study visa. As previously discussed on Africa Report, the United Kingdom will have its own visa requirements that you will need to meet. Visit the UK embassy online to fill out the visa application and provide all necessary documentation for your application. It’s important to note that you might need to provide proof of residence for the duration of your study period. Hopefully you will have applied for on-campus lodging in your study application and this will make the process easier. You will also need to prove that you have emergency funding should there be an issue which will then allow you to return to South Africa.
Studying overseas is a big decision. If you’re lucky enough to be accepted, you are going to have to deal with many changes as well as having to adapt to being in a new country. At least in the United Kingdom they speak english. While the accents may be difficult to understand, at least you’ll know what’s being said in class.
