Recognised in more than 155 countries, with 43 Nobel winners and 78 Pulitzer Prize winners, the Fulbright Scholarship is regarded as the most prestigious international scholarship.
Foreign exchange programs like the Fulbright take applicants out of their home countries and allow them to further their studies in a foreign land.
The students are forced to adapt to their surroundings to survive, and it’s through this adapt-or-fail approach that the cream of the crop raises to the top. Their social skills develop faster as a result of being on their own and having to fend for themselves, and there is also the need to adapt to the way of studying.
Each country has its own method of education, and by having a broader knowledge base of education methods, the scholarship students learn faster and are able to be better than the rest. Add the fact that they’re getting a world-class education, and there’s not much more than can be asked for.
The programs may be elitist and only the best and most motivated students need apply. Students must present not only high academic results but also a strong project proposal, explaining why they are seeking assistance. They must also prove their leadership qualities and that their studies will prove beneficial to society in the future.
