The Mother City plays host to the Telkom Cape Town Entrepreneur Week from 15 to 21 November. The event will highlight some of Cape Town’s most prominent and successful entrepreneurs; it will also serve as a platform for networking, inspiring, educating; a meeting place between investors, business partners and key players in the entrepreneurial world.
In only its second year, the event has grown thanks largely to the sponsorship from SA telecommunications giant Telkom. The event will take place at the Cape Town City Hall and has three major events for visitors (which includes the public): the Cape Town Entrepreneurship Week Conference, the Day Of The Entrepreneur, and the Cape Town Entrepreneurship Week Expo. A number of other smaller events will also take place where exhibitors will show their business ideas and entrepreneurial talents.
The event is aimed at highlighting Cape Town’s plans for the long term of its entrepreneurial environment that will assist business leaders of tomorrow meeting the changing environments head on. Talks will focus on topics such as combating unemployment and the need for skills training, as well as other entrepreneurial topics that aren’t always focused on such as enabling policies, surviving in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the future of business. Guest speakers include Dr Ajit Ranade, chief economist at the Aditya Birla Group; Dr Thanaphol Virasa, an entrepreneurship expert and Professor of Management at Thailand’s Mahidal University; and Randall Kempner, US-based social entrepreneurship expert and executive director of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs.
Event co-director Martin Feinstein is hoping for big things.
This is an unprecedented and exciting initiative that is expected to have a real and lasting impact across the community. It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone in Cape Town to learn how they can become involved in the development of a thriving entrepreneurial economy, and put this city on the world map as an investment destination.
