South Africa: 6th Africa Economic Forum

The cultural epicentre of Cape Town will host the 6th Africa Economic Forum between 5 – 7 March at the BMW Pavilion, the V&A Waterfront’s premier conference venue.
In a climate of recession, a rigorous understanding of continental economics is imperative. If Africa’s growth prospects are anything to go by, the continent is in a league of its own. Africa is even giving China and India a run for their money in industrial growth. The 6th AEF puts Africa’s leading industries, companies, state players, executives and government officials in the spotlight.
The AEF connects fast-growth core industries with continent-wide enterprises. It’s a salute to networking in an environment where simple association often creates the best business opportunities. In a city of 3.5 million renowned for its cliques, Cape Town will provide the stunning backdrop for an event that aims to network all industry sectors.
Cape Town isn’t only renowned for its natural attractions. Table Mountain, Cape Point and Robben Island may set the benchmark for beauty, but it’s the rapidly developing business hub of the city that attracts some of Africa’s biggest companies. Old Mutual, Woolworths and Pick n Pay all base themselves in the Mother City. Woodstock and the city’s East Precinct are rife with digital agencies and startups. And Cape Town is the gateway to the continent, attracting migrant labourers and skilled personnel from all corners of the continent. It’s a sunny environment that will welcome the business world’s leading minds.
Keynote speakers at the Africa Economic Forum will be Professor Philip Lloyd, an Energy Institute professor from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology; Mthozami Xiphu, the CEO of Petroleum Agency SA; Agostinho De Miranda, chairman of Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados; and Richard Stout, the Equity Capital Markets principal of Absa Capital. These industry leaders have carved a niche in local business and their speeches are not to be missed.
The conference includes an exhibition area where industries and enterprises will demonstrate their products and services. Visuals communicate louder than words. It’s here that the continent’s strengths will be broadcast with the latest technology. Africa’s economy is booming. The 6th Africa Economic Forum is set to maximise this growth by showcasing everything the continent has to offer.
