8 Tips to Build a Business Brand

These key branding tips will make your business stand out from the crowd.
Your business logo is an important aspect of your company branding strategy. A logo is the representation of your business in a picture, almost like a stamp. A logo goes on your business letterhead, your website and your business card.  It is the shorthand to represent your business and what it stands for. As a result, your logo needs to make an impact in reaching existing clients, the press and potential customers. Here are 8 tips to create a logo that makes you the professional.
1.  Show and Tell
Your logo is the special mark to represent your company. A good logo usually relates to the company or the industry in someway. A logo that reflects what the company does, or what the company is about is likely to make people remember your business because they can put a picture to your name.
2.  Make your Mark
Try to come up with a defining feature that symbolizes your company and makes a lasting impression.
Think about what you want people to remember about your business. If you run a delivery service, why not use objects that connote speed like a clock or eagle’s wings. Or maybe you want an abstract symbol. Either way, keep it clear and balanced so that your eye can read it with ease.
3.  Think out the box
A logo that is different and unique will make your business stand out from your competitors. Think about logos that you have seen and really liked. What made you notice them? Consider other business logo’s to give you a good idea of what works and what doesn’t.
4.  Get Back to Basics
It’s best not to rely on colour to make your logo look good. If it looks good in black and white then you know you’re onto something. Black and white printing is also half the price of colour, a much wiser choice for a startup business.
5.  Style it Simple
In general, keep it simple. Simple logos are more noticeable than complex ones. That said, your logo needn’t be simplistic in design. Company logos that are simple often have an unexpected detail or a unique feature that makes them compelling.
6.  Go Big and Go Small
Check that your logo looks good in different dimensions. A logo needs to be clear on a business card as well as a billboard.
7.  Stick with It
Once you launch your logo, use it for your website and letterhead. Don’t swop it for other images and confuse your clients. A logo is an effective branding tool if you use it well.
8.  Get it Right
Make sure you really like your logo, after all it symbolizes your company. So don’t settle for something you’re not sure about, think it over some more until you find something just right.
