Capital is needed to develop a dedicated livestock transport service for Botswana’s beef production sector. The projects requires the transport of weaner (young cattle) per month from the breeding area to the feedlot, and from there; the transport of grown cattle from the feedlot to the abattoir. Assuming a livestock transporter can, on average, deliver 100 cattle per day, then at least 20 transport vehicles are required to service the sector. The investment value of the project is between US $2,8 – US $4,1 million.
