The greenfield project aims to supply ‘green power’ to Zambian towns by using the Zambezi River’s water currents to generate electricity. The turbines will be installed on the Zambezi River at suitable locations within close proximity to the two surrounding towns and the national power grid. The power generated by each station will be about 3500 kW/year. The form of power generation is known as hydrokinetics power and can be used in remote, isolated areas. A number of river sites have been identified for the greenfield project and a Power Purchase Agreement can be signed with the Zambian electricity authority for interested investors.
Estimated Cost: US $10,4 million.
