The second West African Business Development Forum will take place over three days from 22 to 24 February at the Ouagadougou International Conference Centre in Burkina Faso for the second successive time. At the last event, 254 companies were represented by 330 delegates from more than 20 countries from Africa, America, Asia and Europe, and more than 2 770 appointments were made during the event alone.
The forum is aimed at promoting business within the West African region and contains a number of workshops and pre-scheduled meetings over the duration of the event. These meetings have been pre-arranged using match-making software that pair up the most likely candidate matches, giving the delegates the immediate benefit of not having to waste time with meetings that will go nowhere. Among those leading the discussions, exhibitions and meetings will be professionals from sectors such as finance, consultancy, business service providers, international institutions and others from some 240 African companies and 160 from around the rest of the world.
Included on the agenda are workshops on Transnational Strategic Alliances: Challenges and Opportunities for West African SMEs, and Investing to Bagré: a Pole of Growth and Opportunity for the Private Sector. The forum will also be broken up into “villages”. The Partners’ Village will be used as a promotional showcase for institutional partners and major sponsors at the event and will give delegates the chance to discover opportunities offered by national, regional and international institutions. The Experts’ Village will be used by international trade specialists such as bankers, lawyers, tax consultants and the like to showcase their services to the visiting delegates. Last but not least is the International Village, which will be used by intermediary enterprises such as chambers of commerce and institutions supporting the private sector within their region.
