South Africa: Indaba 2012

From 12 to 15 May, the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban will play host to Indaba 2012, the premier tourism and travel show on the African continent.
The Indaba 2012 summit has stamped its authority on the travel and tourism event calendar by winning the title of Africa’s Best Travel and Tourism Show for two years in a row from the Association of World Travel Awards. The event is one of the largest marketing events of the year, showcasing all that Southern Africa has to offer in this booming sector.
The four-day event is expected to attract more that 13 000 delegates, visitors and exhibitors from the tourism industry. The event accommodates nearly 1 500 exhibitors from around the tourism and travel industry, such as accommodation, tour operators, game lodges, transportation, media, camping, and many others. Visitors to the event come from all walks of life in addition to sectors of the travel industry, such as advertising, entertainment, event organisers, financial support, food and beverages, National Government Organisations, trade associations, sport and recreation enterprises, environmental affairs and foreign affairs, to name a few. There will also be a number of international guests, including the media who provide exclusive coverage of Africa’s travel and tourism events to the rest of the world.
The event allows delegates, guests and exhibitors to not only showcase and experience all tourism and travel-related services and products that are available locally, but also those available in the international market. There will also be invaluable networking opportunities where delegates will be able to meet industry stakeholders and other travel and tourism players who would be interested in their products and services. There will be fertile opportunities for existing deals to be renegotiated based on the progression of the industry with regards to products and services, and these will take place over the duration of the event. Visitors will be grouped into a number of categories, whether local or international to suit their market needs and interests. Local buyers who are at the event on behalf of an international company will be able to attend all four days of the event, while local trade will only be allowed entry on the 14th and 15th of May.
As one of the fastest growing commercial sectors on the continent, Indaba 2012 promises to offer a wealth of information on this vibrant market sector.
