Visible Science Markets Mobile Technology in South Africa

Taking their cue from the latest statistics on the cellular phone industry, Visible Science is breaking into the mobile market.
Making it in the mobile market space is the main objective of this South African entrepreneur’s enterprise. Andrew Worthington is the managing director of Visible Science, a technology company that specialises in cellular devices in South Africa. Starting the business only a few years ago, Andrew was spurred by research in the mobile phone industry. Taking his cue from the latest statistics which cite Africa as one of the world’s fastest growing markets in the cellular industry, he decided “to go out and start a company.” Armed with enthusiasm and foresight, he boldly stepped up to the challenge of competing with leading industry brands.

Andrew Worthington: Managing Director of Visible Science

To help finance his business, Andrew received assistance in capital from GroFin. GroFin is a financial advisory organisation that operates differently from traditional banks. Offering a financial solution, as well as business development instruction in marketing and management, Grofin’s aim is to guide businesses through a steady start-up process.
Supported by Grofin’s financial plan, Andrew set about preparing Visible Science “to go play in the mobile space.” After sourcing devices in China, the company devised a product to meet the requirements of its specific target market. Focusing in on consumers in Africa and their particular needs, the VS Mobile device offers television on a cellphone. The idea behind this feature is to enable more people access to information.
For the future, Andrew has high hopes. He plans to grow the business exponentially in the next three years. His vision is to introduce mass mobile television in Africa. For this he feels that VS Mobile needs to be inexpensive and easy-to-use.
Part of  Andrew’s long term business aspirations is to make educational applications available so that the youth can use it to learn. His specific focus is on maths, science and technology, subjects that are seen as important to progress on the African continent. Targeting as wide a market as possible, this device is meant for anybody who wants a mobile tool that can offer more functions than a regular cellphone.

About Africa Report

Africa Report's goal is firstly to inspire and inform African businesses about starting or expanding a business. Africa Report uses a series of Television Programs to reach out to the African public. This is done through the online platform Business Opportunities, that gives both local as well as international investors and support organisations the chance to connect to businesses, and vice versa. Combined, the Africa Report television programmes, website with business opportunities, finance and assistance fill an important void in overall information dissemination, communication and connection on business development in Africa.
