Munga distributes success in Rwanda

Munga Distribution Centre owned and directed by Rango Muhoza is situated in Rwanda’s capital Kigali.
“I think to become a successful entrepreneur one has to be professional and three hundred percent involved. Your business should be your passion and not something that can go without any emotion. I think when you have that and you work very hard, then you could become successful so that your children could also get involved.” – Rango Muhoza, Rwanda.
Hard work pays off. That’s the lesson to be learned from Rango Muhoza, owner and director of the Munga Distribution Centre for beer and soft drinks located in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Rango took over the company from his parents in 1988 and since then the company has expanded several times over. This is due in large part to the contract he was able to obtain with the biggest brewery in Rwanda, Bralirwa.
The Bralirwa Brewery trained, supported and instructed Rango and his staff, which is why Munga is miles ahead of its competitors. Bralirwa believes wholeheartedly in developing their distributors, since the distributors are their key partners in getting their products to the market. Bralirwa offered training to Munga with regards to the newest IT solutions, whereby they assist in the purchase of computers, installation of software and analyzing of their data, in order to maximise the efficiency of their business. Furthermore, Bralirwa has specific standards that they require to be met in any company that they do business with regarding the quality of both the products and the overall running of the enterprise as well as respect for the environment. Munga meets these requirements, which is why Bralirwa acknowledges them as the perfect business partner for the leading brewery.
One of Rango’s smartest business strategies is not waiting for potential clients such as bars, shops or restaurants to approach Munga but rather to proactively go out and solicit trade face to face by going out and talking outlets into doing business with Munga.
To convince new clients to use their services, Munga offers credit on first stock and credits for empty bottles to start with. This is very attractive to distributees as it means that they don’t have to invest with their own working capital in order to get stock. Rango also believes that it is important for him to be in personal touch with his clients, not just in the beginning stages of doing business with them, but on a constant basis.
Munga’s attention to service not only keeps this distributors client’s happy and satisfied, but it allows him to resolve any problems sometimes before there even develop.
In a period of ten years, Munga has grown by over seventy percent. Rango’s parents, the previous owners of the business, sold about ten thousand crates per month. Today Munga is able to sell on average seventy thousand crates per month. While this massive improvement is due in large part to Bralirwa, hard work and professionalism went a long way towards turning The Munga Distribution Centre into the leading Rwandan distributor that it is today.

Lizden Promotions Ltd is a marketing agency based in Kenya and Rwanda. We have a wealth of experience in offering marketing services to reputable organisations.
Outsourcing of marketing services is the way to go in the world today so that an organisation can be left with time to concentrate on its core business …. in this case the core business of Munga is DISTRIBUTION.
We would be keen to partner with Munga Distributors to help in the retail penetration, merchandising and visibility (Placing of Point of Sale (POS) promotional materials) at the retail outlets.
